Use & Care
All candles deserve a little TLC. Make the most out of every burn with these candle care steps.
Snip Snip. Each time you light your candle, make sure to trim your wick to 1/4" first. This will ensure a clean, even burn every time! Bonus, it helps to reduce soot on the glass.
Light it up. After you light your candle, let it burn until the wax pools to the edges (especially on the very first burn).
Cool + Rest. When you're ready, extinguish the flame and let your candle completely cool before the next burn.
The Last Burn. Once your candle has only 1/2" of wax left, it's time for a new one. Continuing to burn with less than 1/2" of wax can be really dangerous (the candle could shatter or catch fire).
Warning. Burn within sight. Keep away from things that catch fire. Keep away from children. To prevent fire, place only on heat resistant surfaces. Avoid drafts. Avoid cold surfaces such as glass or marble. Keep foreign matter and wick trimmings out of candle.

I once again ordered 2 Red Currant Tortoise candles and once again one was broken. I called yesterday and complained about my previous order coming with one broken. The young lady told me she would send a replacement candle and now another needs to be replaced!!! I will expect to receive 2 replacement candles. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from you again until this has been resolved.
VVotivo9 months agoHi Diana, it looks like Brooke on our Customer Service Team was able to ship two more replacement candles to you. We hope this has now been resolved! Thank you for your patience.

I didn’t like that it didn’t come inside of a box. It makes it more difficult to give as a gift.

I fell for the marketing, in which Votivo positions itself like a luxury brand, and regret overpaying for what is no different than a mall or drugstore candle.
You're paying for as copy and a tortoiseshell-esque vessel. This red currant scent is cosplaying as Diptyque's Baies - for the price, buy yourself the real thing which burns cleanly both smoke and fragrance-wise.
This scent is incredibly cloying, sweet, and waxy and is reminiscent of a cleaning product. It took under five minutes for the migraine to start and my air purifier in an adjacent room had to work overtime to clear the black smoke from just a few minutes of lit wick.
If you're seduced by the vessel and/or reviews, get a sample before committing to the expense for a candle that will cause you or your guests an intense headache as refunds are not available unless the item is damaged in transit.
